Abstract: I will discuss numerical methods for multi-dimensional radiative transfer with polarization, under general non-LTE conditions. With the increasing capabilities and capacities of modern computers such calculations are in the reach of ordinary desktop computers. As simulations go higher up into the chromosphere, the need for detailed and reliable transfer solutions is clear. It is in this realm, where the LTE approximation is no longer applicable, that transfer solutions become three-dimensional in nature.
